Compass Help Centre
Everything you need to set Compass up, use it day to day, manage your account, and fix the common snags. If you are signed in, the fastest help is Ask Compass (the button on every dashboard screen), which knows your business and your plan. If you cannot find an answer here or there, Contact us. This page covers: getting started, using each part of Compass, your account and billing, troubleshooting, and how to reach a person.
Getting Started
Compass works in a clear order. You answer questions about your business, Compass researches and builds your plan, and from there you work it day by day.
1. Create your account. Sign up with your email and a password at the sign-up page, then click the verification link we email you. There is an optional marketing-email toggle at sign-up; it is off by default and you can change it later.
2. Business setup. Compass asks seven quick questions (your name, business name, location, how you sell, who you sell to, your website, your social handles), then researches your business across the public web and, for UK businesses, Companies House. It shows you what it found as cards you confirm or correct, so you stay in control of what it uses.
3. Brand setup. Compass surfaces the brand signals it found (your voice, colours, fonts, tagline) and lets you keep them, refresh them, have Compass write a designer brief, or skip this for now.
4. The deep-dive. A short guided set of questions about your focus, your audience, your goals, your marketing history, and your resources. Some of it is confirm-or-correct (Compass shows what it already knows); some is fresh questions. It takes most people roughly eight to twelve minutes.
5. Your 90 Day Growth Plan. Compass generates your plan on screen. It takes a minute or two while it researches and writes. When it is ready you can read it any time; it is saved to your account.
The free 90 Day Growth Plan is yours to keep. Upgrading to Pro replaces it with a fuller Marketing Strategy and the live dashboard described below.
Picking up where you left off. You do not have to finish onboarding in one sitting. Compass saves your progress at each step, so if you close the tab and come back, you return to the last unfinished step rather than starting again.
Using Compass (the Pro Dashboard)
Pro opens a dashboard with a sidebar of ten views. Here is what each one is for and how to use it.
Today
Your daily tasks, grouped into four sections:
- Your focus today is everything that needs you: tasks to do (publish a post, upload a draft, log a number) and tasks where Compass plans to do the work for you and needs your go-ahead first. The approval tasks carry Approve / Edit / Reject buttons; approving one queues Compass to carry it out.
- Handled for you is a read-only history of work Compass completed automatically. You can open a row to see what was done, but there is nothing to action.
- Coming up shows the next few days of scheduled tasks.
- Completed shows the last seven days of finished work.
Completing a task. Click a task to open it. Compass asks for the right kind of proof for that task: paste a link for a published post, drop in a screenshot or photo, upload a file, type a short note, enter a number, tick off a checklist, or simply mark it done for private tasks. You only ever see the prompt that fits the task ("Paste the URL when posted", "Upload the file when ready").
This Month
The month's focal point. A single milestone sits at the top (the goal for the month and how you will know you hit it), with the month's tasks below in a list or calendar view. As you move through the 12-month strategy, This Month rolls you into each new phase.
Marketing Strategy
Your full strategy, in three tabs:
- Research is what Compass learned about your market: sizing, your five audience profiles, the buying moments, and your competitors.
- Strategy is your positioning, your messaging, and your channel plan (which channels to use, which to ignore).
- Execution is your quarterly OKRs, the 12-month roadmap, and an internal-readiness view of where you are resourced and where you have gaps.
Click any audience card to open that profile's deep-dive (their jobs to be done, the words they use, the channels and tactics for them).
Metrics
Where you track what is working, across sub-tabs for performance, brand recognition, buying-moment coverage, content effectiveness, and your own customers' sentiment, plus Compass's insights. Until your connectors are live you enter your actuals by hand; once data builds up, each metric shows a trend. Use the period switcher (this month / last month / quarter) at the top right.
Brand
Your brand assets in one place: logos, colours, fonts, and your voice (tagline, tone, messaging pillars, example copy). A one-line reference at the top of the Voice tab anchors the brand to who it is for. Edit any asset from here.
Research
Your live market-intelligence feed (distinct from the one-off setup research, which lives in Marketing Strategy). It collects new signals about your competitors, your category, and review platforms over time, with a competitor watchlist, a research library, and the list of sources Compass draws on. You can pause or resume any monitoring category from the monitoring settings here.
Data Hub
Where you connect your tools so Compass can pull your real numbers. Each connector tile shows its status (Not connected / Connecting / Live / Needs attention), when it last synced, and what it pulls. To connect one, click Connect and complete the provider's sign-in. To stop data coming in, click Disconnect; to change settings, click Reconfigure. If you would rather not connect a tool, you can upload a CSV instead. The Data Hub also holds an audit log of every connector action, for transparency.
Knowledge Base
The Compass glossary and a small library of how-to articles explaining the marketing thinking behind each part of your strategy. Search it any time a term is unfamiliar.
Support
Ask Compass first; it can answer most questions about your plan and the product directly. If it cannot resolve something, you can raise a ticket from here.
Settings
Your profile, workspaces, billing, notification and consent preferences, privacy, and security, plus the control to replay the first-use walkthrough. Your data controls (export and delete) live under Data Rights.
Ask Compass and Quick Note
Ask Compass is the button on every screen. It reads your full business and plan, so you can ask things like "why is this task here?" or "rewrite this post shorter" and get an answer in context. Quick Note lets you jot an observation and Compass files it to the right place.
More Than One Business or Product
One account can hold several businesses, each with its own plan and subscription, switched from the top of the sidebar. Within a business you can run multiple workspaces (separate products or services), switched from the pill at the top of the main area. Adding a business runs you through onboarding again for that business.
Your Account and Billing
Founder pricing. The first 1,000 founding members pay £19/month (or £15.20/month billed annually), locked for life. After the 1,000 founding spots fill, the standard rate is £39/month. The founder rate applies to your account's first business; further businesses you add are billed at the standard rate. Each Pro business includes three workspaces, with additional workspaces at £6/month each.
Managing or cancelling your plan. Manage your subscription from Settings → Billing. If you cancel, you keep your founding spot and rate for life rather than losing it.
Payments and invoices. Payment is handled by Stripe; Compass never sees your card details. Receipts and invoices are available through your billing settings.
Changing your details or preferences. Update your profile, and your email and notification preferences, in Settings. You can change your marketing-email choices any time under Notifications.
Troubleshooting
My growth plan or strategy did not generate, or generation failed. Generation runs live and usually takes a minute or two (a little longer for the Pro market research). If it stops or errors, refresh the page; Compass resumes from where it was rather than losing your answers. If it still will not complete, use Ask Compass or raise a ticket with the time it happened.
A connector says "Needs attention" or stopped syncing. Connections sometimes expire and need re-authorising. Open the Data Hub, find the tile marked "Needs attention", and click Reconnect (or Disconnect then Connect again) to sign in with the provider afresh. The tile shows when it last synced so you can confirm data is flowing again.
A metric looks wrong. Until a connector is live, metrics use the numbers you enter by hand, so check the figure you logged for that period and the period switcher (this month / last month / quarter) at the top right. If a connected source looks off, open its tile in the Data Hub to see when it last synced; a stale sync is the usual cause.
Compass stopped drafting, or a task did not get done. Tasks where Compass does the work only run after you approve them in Your focus today, so check whether an approval is still waiting. If you approved one and it did not happen, note the task and the date and contact support.

I did not get my verification or reset email. Check spam, and that you used the same address you signed up with. If it still has not arrived, contact us.
Reaching a Person
Start with Ask Compass inside the product; it resolves most questions immediately because it can see your plan. If it cannot help, raise a ticket from the in-product Support view and we pick it up from there. For account, billing, privacy, or security matters, and for help when you cannot sign in, see the Contact page for the right route.
