This page tells you how to delete the data Compass holds about you, and explains your rights under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
1. Who Controls Your Data

- Company name: Starlight Tech Limited
- Company number: 17175089
- Registered office: 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9JQ

2. What You Can Delete
You can delete:
- your Compass account and all the personal data tied to it;
- specific outputs (plans, content, drafts) without deleting the account;
- the data you have uploaded to Compass, for example a CSV of your audience or customer list; and
- your communications with us.
You can also export your data before you delete, in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format.
3. How to Delete Your Account from Inside the Product
The fastest route is self-service inside Compass.
- Sign in at https://app.compassbystarlight.com.
- Open Settings.
- Choose Data Rights.
- Choose Delete account.
- Confirm.
You will receive a confirmation email. The account enters a 30-day soft-delete window during which signing in again restores it. After 30 days the data is fully deleted.
4. How to Delete Your Account if You Cannot Sign In
If you cannot sign in (lost password, account locked, third-party access concern), email privacy@starlighttech.ai with:
- the email address on your Compass account;
- a short note saying you want your account deleted;
- any reference number you have from prior support correspondence (optional).
We respond within 2 working days, verify your identity, and process the deletion within one calendar month of receiving your request. We may need extra information to verify identity. If we do, we tell you what we need.
If you joined the waiting list but do not yet have a Compass account, you can remove your details using the unsubscribe link in any email we send, or by emailing privacy@starlighttech.ai.
5. How to delete data you have uploaded
- Sign in at https://app.compassbystarlight.com.
- Open Settings.
- Choose Data Rights.
- Delete the uploaded data, or delete your account (section 3) to remove everything at once.
Data you have uploaded is also removed when you delete your account.
6. How to Delete Specific Outputs Without Deleting Your Account
Inside Compass, each plan, content piece, or draft can be deleted individually from its own detail view. Look for the Delete option in the action menu on the item.
7. What Is Deleted and What Is Not
Deleted on full account deletion:
- your sign-in (email, hashed password);
- your onboarding answers;
- your plan outputs and any content Compass generated for you;
- the data you uploaded to Compass;
- your communications with us; and
- your technical logs tied to your identity.
Kept after deletion, where law or compelling business reason requires:
- billing records, for 7 years from the end of the financial year in which the transaction occurred (HMRC requirement);
- consent records, for 7 years from the most recent event on the consent record;
- security logs, for 12 months from event date; and
- backups in the standard rotation, until the rotation overwrites them (maximum 90 days).
The retention schedule for every data category is at section 8 of the Privacy Notice.
8. Deletion Timeline
| Step | Time |
|---|---|
| Self-service deletion in product | Immediate (soft-delete) |
| Soft-delete window during which sign-in restores the account | 30 days |
| Full deletion of live data | At end of soft-delete window |
| Removal from backups via rotation | Up to 90 days after full deletion |

9. Confirmation
