Accessibility Statement

Compass is built to be usable by as many people as possible. This statement explains what we are doing on accessibility, where we are today, the issues we already know about, and how to tell us when we get it wrong.

1. Our Commitment

We want everyone to be able to use Compass, including disabled people. Starlight Tech Limited is committed to making the Compass marketing site and the Compass product accessible, in line with our duties under the Equality Act 2010 to make reasonable adjustments so that disabled people can use our service.

We are working toward the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. WCAG 2.2 AA is the international benchmark used by the UK government and most large organisations to measure web accessibility.

2. How Accessible Compass Is Today

We are honest about where we are: Compass is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. "Partially conformant" means some parts of the content do not yet fully meet the standard. We have an active, documented programme of work to close the gaps, and we publish the ones we know about in section 4 below.

We do not use an accessibility overlay or widget. Overlays do not deliver real conformance, so we fix accessibility in the product itself.

3. What We Have Done So Far

  • We built the marketing site and the product on a design system that uses semantic HTML, keyboard-navigable controls, visible focus states, and labelled form fields.
  • We ran an automated accessibility scan (axe-core) across every page template and recorded the findings.
  • We are working through those findings and a manual keyboard and screen-reader review under our accessibility plan.

4. Known Issues We Are Working On

As of the date below, the areas we know need improvement are:

  • Some text and interface elements that do not yet meet the minimum colour-contrast level (WCAG 1.4.3).
  • Descriptive text alternatives (alt text) for some images that carry meaning, rather than decoration (WCAG 1.1.1).
  • Some links within body text that are currently distinguished by colour alone and need an additional cue such as an underline (WCAG 1.4.1).
  • A small number of heading-order steps and form-labelling refinements (WCAG 1.3.1, 4.1.2).

We are fixing these in the site we generate, then re-testing. The Compass product (the app you use after signing up) is newer and is being brought up to the same standard as we build each surface.

If you find an issue that is not listed here, please tell us using the details in section 6 and we will add it and work on it.

5. What Is Not in Scope

This statement covers the Compass marketing site at compassbystarlight.com and the Compass product at app.compassbystarlight.com. It does not cover third-party sites we link to, or content embedded from other providers, for example video hosted on YouTube, where the accessibility of that content is the responsibility of the host.

6. Reporting Accessibility Problems

If you need information from Compass in a different format, or you have trouble using any part of the site or the product, please tell us:

  • please include a short description of the problem, the page or screen, and the assistive technology you are using if relevant.

We aim to respond within 5 working days with an acknowledgement, a workaround where one exists, and a fix timeline where we can give one.

7. Enforcement

The Equality Act 2010 gives you rights of access to services. If you contact us about an accessibility problem and you are not happy with how we respond, you can get free, independent advice from the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS) at https://www.equalityadvisoryservice.com/ or on 0808 800 0082, or seek your own legal advice on your rights under the Equality Act 2010.

8. How We Tested This Site

We last reviewed the accessibility of Compass on 2 June 2026. Testing was carried out internally by Starlight Tech Limited using automated scanning (axe-core) and manual keyboard and screen-reader checks. An independent third-party audit, including testing with assistive-technology users, is planned once the business can fund it; when it happens we will record it here.

This statement was prepared on 2 June 2026 and follows the format used by the UK Government Digital Service for accessibility statements. It will be reviewed and updated as our accessibility work progresses.
